Today we celebrate the achievements of women across the arts, culture, science, technology, industry and commerce. It is inspiring to see women taking on senior roles in the marine sector too. More women and girls are entering higher education, opening the door of opportunity to women across the globe. We support the valuable contribution women make to society as they take the helm in every field of endeavour.
Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality. Collectively we can all #EmbraceEquity.

What is International Women’s Day?
International Women’s Day is an annual event that celebrates all the amazing things women have achieved. It is a way to show how women have and continue to influence the world. As well as celebrating brilliant women, it’s also used as a day to highlight and raise awareness about issues that women have faced in the past and still face today.
Historically, women have been denied the right to vote, to work, and lots of other things, too. Because of brilliant women who fought against these things, women now have a lot more say in the world around us. But there are still many issues that women continue to face and fight for today.
International Women’s Day is an important day for us to focus on the many inequalities, gender bias, discrimination and stereotyping that exists in society today.
When is International Women’s Day 2024?
International Women’s Day occurs globally on the 8th March every year in honour of the amazing women who campaigned for women’s rights and those who continue to do so today.
What is the International Women’s Day 2024 theme?
The International Women’s Day 2024 theme is ‘Inspire Inclusion’. This theme focuses on teaching our communities to value the inclusion of women as we create a getter, and more inclusive, world for all.
Importantly, this International Women’s Day 2024 theme will also explore how to protect the rights of women and girls in digital spaces and how to combat online gender-based violence.
Many experts from the fields of technology and innovation, as well as gender equality activists, will come together to discuss how to improve access to digital tools and bridge the digital skills divide. This will help to make sure that all people have equal access to digital technology and the opportunities it provides.
